Remember to moisturize daily and as needed to keep skin and hair hydrated. Be sure to drink plenty of water as well to make sure you are hydrated from the inside and out. Dry britle hair is more likely to break during removal resulting in more irritation.
The removal of dry dead skin is essential to prevent those pesky ingrown hairs. Exfoliation will not only prevent irritation but it will also make your waxing sessions more comfortable. Start exfoliating 48 hours post wax to give your skin time to heal. Please refrain from doing so 48 hours prior to your wax as well to prevent skin sensitivity. Doing so consistently post will give you the best results.
After your wax, it is imperative to keep the area as dry and clean as possible.for the first 24-48 hours post wax.
The day of your wax and in general, try to wear loose fitting clothes made of breathable materials. This keeps sweat and friction at bay to help prevent ingrown hairs. Natural fibers such a cotton allow the skin to breathe sufficiently. Spandex and polyester do not allow proper air flow to the skin.
Please refrain from working out for the first 24-48 hours post wax. Sweat and friction will irritate the area. Also, wait for at-least 24-48 hours post-wax to engage in sexual intercouse.
Stay out of sunlight up to 48 hours post wax I.E. beaches, boating, parks, etc. Waxing exfoliates the surface layer of skin and will make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Do not tan in the sun or tanning bed for 24-28 hours pre or post wax. This increases the chance of irritation and/or sun burn.
Avoid bodies of water up to 48 hours post wax. IE: Oceans, hot tubs, pools, etc. Salt water can irritate your skin further and cause bumps. Chlorine in pool water can be harsh on sensitive skin as well. Stay away from pools as they carry bacteria.
